In 3 days it will be March 21st which according to the calendar means the beginning of spring. The season in which all nature blooms again and marks the beginning of the new vegetative year. Today we are dealing with a very important topic, namely the importance of the lawn in spring: a guide to choosing the type with some useful advice.

The lawn is essential in every garden and requires care in every season. Whether small or large, it offers a benefit not only to those who care for it but also to the entire ecosystem, just think that a grassy area of approximately 60 m2 creates the amount of oxygen needed for a man on a daily basis.

Rustic or English lawn?

When we decide to fix our lawn the first question we must ask ourselves is what type of lawn we want.

• The English lawn requires a lot of care because it must be very tidy. It presents itself for its high aesthetic value and a cheerful bright color.
To maintain it optimally, almost daily care is required. It doesn't like trampling or the presence of pets very much.

The coat must always be kept low and thick.

If you are someone who loves having a garden to mainly enjoy its aesthetic effect and is willing to dedicate considerable time and energy to it, then this English lawn is for you.

• The rustic lawn is a completely different matter. Its appearance is certainly less impeccable and valuable. Unlike the previous one, it tolerates trampling well and is a "living" lawn
Therefore it is the ideal solution for those who like to spend the afternoon lying on the grass or have children or pets

The country lawn has greater resistance than the English lawn and requires less schematicism in its aesthetic layout.

Each part can be personalized with different types of flowers and plants.
Once you have chosen the type, it is a good idea to purchase the right seeds to plant it, paying close attention to the climate, exposure and type of soil. There are specific mixtures on the market suitable for different types of soil and climates. If you live in a mainly hot climate where you cannot ensure constant irrigation, choose seeds composed of couch grass that resist drought very well. If your turf is in a cold climate, choose seeds with a prevalence of poa, a quality that resists low temperatures very well

Some advice before sowing the lawn

Before proceeding with creating the lawn, remember to prepare the soil in advance. Here are some important tips.

• Free the ground on which the covering will be laid from weeds.
• Create the right substrate for sowing, a light, fertile and well-drained soil is the ideal solution
• If the garden soil is heavy and clayey, remedy this immediately as water stagnation is harmful to your health and your garden
• Use large quantities of specific soil for turf composed of fine peat, to lighten the soil, sand, to improve drainage, and organic substances, to nourish the young roots in formation
• Before sowing, carefully evaluate the irrigation system. Choosing an underground and automatic irrigation system can be an optimal choice. In fact, the initial cost can be amortized by lower water consumption: the latest generation systems allow you to save up to 40% of water. Furthermore, a well-watered lawn grows thick and compact and is less subject to diseases, maintaining a pleasant appearance all year round with lower maintenance costs
